On October 14th 2020, the Croatian PROMEHS team run an Online National Opening Conference, to raise awareness of the importance of promoting mental health in kindergartens and schools.
17 active conference participants contributed significantly: PROMEHS project members from Croatia, representatives of the University of Rijeka and the Faculty of Teacher Education in Rijeka, representatives of the Department of Education and schooling of the City of Rijeka, the principal and senior advisors of the Education and Teacher Training Agency, representatives of the Ministry of Science and Education, the Ministry of Labour and Pension System, Family and Social Policy, UNICEF office for Croatia, representatives of the Croatian Institute of Public Health, and members of the academic community who, as experts in the field of social and emotional learning and prevention programs in our country, held plenary lectures.
They all highlighted and discussed the importance of mental health in children and young people in the educational context, and especially in the context of the current Corona Virus pandemic. One of the values of this conference is that the topic of mental health and its importance was discussed by members of three different sectors whose mutual cooperation and synergy directly affects the quality of the educational system: members of academic community, members of the educational system and policy-makers.
On the day of the conference, live streaming was enabled via YouTube and more than 300 people attended the event.
